New Year is all geared up bring some smashing doses of suspense, and  believe it or not only a single segment of crime drama Mentalist will be enough to get things heated up.

The forthcoming episode of Mentalist, which is set to hit the screens by February 2012, has roped in former Rescue Me diva, Diane Farr.

The 42-year-old pro has loads of experience when it comes to donning a crime drama character. Apart from her stupendous act in police procedural, Numb3rs, she had a date with another detective show CSI: Miami, last October.

The writer-cum-actress will play the role a liquor firm owner in the coming installment. Her character’s best friend will be accused of committing a homicide, which actually will kick-start the suspense draped events.

Bonnie Somerville, the actress who is better known for her acts in Cashmere Mafia will be seen playing the character of Amy’s (Diane Farr) best buddy.

There are two more guest stars on board the much-talked about installment of Mentalist. Kathryn Joosten of Desperate Housewives fame and True Blood‘s James Frain will have their share of air time in cameos.

Detail about the kind of roles they are going to play is not revealed yet. And it’s understood because there is around a month’s time left for the scheduled airing.

The norm applies for Diane as well, so all those who are waiting for glimpse of the hotshot can watch Rescue Me online to fulfill their wish.

Have you counted, there are four guest stars crowding in the Mentalist segment. And I won’t be wrong if I assume that it has some surprises in store for the crime lovers.

Well, Denis gave away the equipment and attires used during the filming of his incredible television series, Rescue Me, to the National Museum of American History.

The television series bears association with the tragedy that struck America on 9/11. The approaching September will mark the tenth anniversary of the tragedy and the contribution to the museum was made to mark the heroic acts of the ones, who saved many during the fall of the twin towers.

The show would not have materialized without the help of insights from the New York firefighters as it was these very brave men, who helped Leary and Peter Tolan understand better what goes on in the life of a firefighter. The rendezvous with the men, helped Denis in creating such an engaging show.

Leary reflected that he wishes that the contribution made by him, would remind people of what these men do at the time of adversity, without thinking about their own lives.

Leary, during his preparations for the show, also came in contact with the firefighters, who attended the call of duty, on the darkest day of America.

He, accompanied by Peter, started working on the idea, which gave birth to the Rescue Me episodes. The idea always lurked in the mind of the creators, and with the passage of time, they came up with this iconic show. The series will soon run its last season soon.

Times are bad and America is in dense soup, as the debt trouble is hovering over the White House. While the Obama team is busy scouring through files, folders and, even, cupboards to look for a solution to the problem, Denis Leary has come up in an all-new avatar of debt, armed with a master plan.

Now, you must be wondering how Denis could come up with an idea to help America clear its debts, as it is not something related to cinema.

Well, the answer to this question is How-would-I-know!

I mean, what difference it makes from where he managed to fetch the solution. We have the solution and that should be enough.

Here are the three solutions, as proposed by Denis (not the menace)!

The first thing he suggested is that Barack Obama and John Boehner must be told to smoke more cigarettes!

DENIS suggested that a cigarette costs around 9 bucks, and should the two of them start smoking more, the debt would evaporate because then the revenue collected from sales would have surpassed the debt!

He argued that John would surely make the Chinese folks go nuts by his constant sniveling and crying, and to get rid of him, they will waive the money!

The third solution will surely make Eric Ivan Cantor wet as Denis suggested that he may come handy on a dunking machine!

Actor Denis Leary donated his firefighter costumes and equipment to the section which is being built to honor the firefighters who sacrificed their lives in the 9/11 incident. Since the tenth anniversary of that horrific day is approaching, the cast members wanted to show their appreciation.

The authenticity of the show’s locales, dialogues have a lot to do with the tips offered by the firefighters of New York city, and their pain is most symbolized when Tommy tells his wife that his normal self is buried somewhere below Ground Zero, and he’s trying to cope with what is above it.

For those who were lucky enough to watch the previous Rescue Me episode would have been moved to tears by such an emotionally charged exchange between a damaged firefighter and his estranged wife.

The show has tackled the traumatic experiences that the families underwent and the racial tensions without resorting to stereotypes and clichés.

I would go as far as to say that there isn’t a single soul that hasn’t been touched by the realness of Tommy Gavin’s ordeal.

Also, the guys at Tommy’s station are going crazy because there isn’t much for them to do, and they’re just about to reach their breaking point in Rescue Me season 7 episode 3.

In the time of comedies and adulterous storylines, Rescue Me shall stand out as the lone crusader that is managing to hold its own against a deluge of reality TV shows and other excellent shows.

But soon, the emotional yet sardonically told story of the troubled firefighter named Tommy Gavin and his struggles with the tragedies and losses will be on its way to the sunshine, but the essence of the show will linger on for many more days to come.

And on that ominous note, let’s dive into the labyrinth that we all know as Rescue Me and enjoy the first installment – the Rescue Me Premiere.

So, we have Tommy, the foul-mouthed, deeply troubled alcohol-addicted protagonist; although the term antihero would be more appropriate for him. So the antihero Tommy Gavin is about to have his life turned upside down; as if it wasn’t already, but yeah, something drastic is about to happen in Rescue Me season 7 episode 1.

And who could be behind this potentially life-changing incident? With Tommy, who can tell? But this time, we have a fair bit of idea about the troublemakers and it’s the foul-mouthed widow of Jimmy Keefe, Sheila, and Tommy’s ex-wife, Janet.

The last time we saw Tommy and Sheila together, they were looking after Sheila’s son, Damien, also the son of Tommy’s best friend and cousin, Jimmy. After that tragic incident which left Damien brain-damaged, the two of them decided to take care of the boy.

But in the maiden episode of the final season, it seems that Tommy will have his hands full with a rather intrusive reporter, who is hell-bent on taking down Tommy’s response to the 9/11 tragedy. And, do I need to remind you what Tommy’s capable of when he’s angry?

No?

Good! An angry Tommy can cause more damage than a F5 class tornado and leave everything in ruins. Let’s just hope that the reporter is able to make it alive after that little tete-a-tete with him.

Plus, it will be interesting to watch Janet and Sheila get back at Tommy and how they go about the task!

While the former one might be the one belonging to the genre of dark comedy, the upcoming one would be an add-on to that, and perhaps add another feather to Denis Leary’s cap!

All you need to do is to brace yourself up guys, for another comedy show would be coming your way from the aegis of none other than Denis Leary, who has taken up the pen to write the plot of this one!

Well, the only thing that comes to my mind is that we were never ever oblivious of his potential.

Even a furtive glance, or taking the Rescue Me download path, would help you understand my viewpoint better.

Tommy Gavin, the principal character of this show juggles with it all; be it his marital relationship hitting the rocks, or illicit affair with his cousin’s widow, he takes everything in his stride.

Now, the next offering that would be tickling your funny bone is an adaptation of Sirens, which again belongs to the genre of dark comedy, and deals with the weird antics of a troupe of paramedics.

While comparisons would be drawn, even I would like to watch what this upcoming delight holds for us.

But one would have to gear up really hard to match the level of Tommy Gavin and the impression he made in our minds!
